Welcome to Archival Accessibility

Web Site Accessibility for Archives, Libraries, Businesses and Organizations

NOTE: Our recommendations for archival web sites are being posted, and will be linked here when ready.

A 2006 UN report said 97% of the world’s leading web sites did not have basic accessibility features. Is your archival web site similar? Most archives web sites are not accessible at the basic level, and this must be changed.

We provide accessible web sites and accessibility consulting for clients all over the world. We can help make your new or existing site more accessible for people with disabilities. We provide web site usability/accessibility analysis, surveys and reports, as well as web site consulting, creation, maintenance and hosting. We have been working with web site accessibility issues since 1999.

While we specialize in web site accessibility, we also provide consulting for making physical spaces more accessible for people with disabilities.

We employ a universal design approach to both web site and physical spaces. For us, this means that we try to make an online or offline space as accessible as possible for people with different impairments, not just for the visually impaired.

For those of you in Ontario, the new Ontario Accessibility Standards for Customer Service Act will apply to private workplaces as of January 1st, 2012. Even if you are a non-profit, if you have at least one employee and you have goods and/or services available to the public then this Act applies to you. We can help provide guidance and support to you in order to comply with the legislation, contact us for a quote.
